Alright ladies! While we are all at home in quarantine, I thought I would make a productive time out of this and dive into spring cleaning my wardrobe. I personally love doing this each spring because it allows me to refresh my collection for the warmer months…plus there is something so freeing about cleaning to me that sparks my motivation! I have put together a few tips for how to effectively spring clean your wardrobe and where to even begin. It can get overwhelming, but its a good thing we have a few weeks trapped in our houses to take it slow.🤷
HOW TO SPRING CLEAN YOUR WARDROBE
1. I first like to start by pulling everything out of my closet so that I can get a good idea of what I am looking at. So, pull each piece out and lay them somewhere that you can sort through each one!
2. Now is when I like to make my many piles. As I shuffle through each clothing item, I start forming keep, donate, and sell piles. This is great for really getting down to organizing your pieces, and seeing which ones you are ready to part with. My rule for parting with a piece is that if I haven’t worn it within the last 3 months, its time for it to go!
3. Let’s talk more specifically about each pile. Right now, my closet is filled with winter clothes that I want to store for the spring and summer. I grabbed storage bins similar to these that I can store my winter sweaters, jackets, and scarfs in.
I then move on to my donate pile, where I bag all pieces I want to donate and immediately put them in my car. This saves time because they are already ready to go.
My sell pile is where I save pieces that are in great condition that I want to make a little extra money with. There are many ways of doing this, and the one that I have had the most success on is Facebooks marketplace. I sell my pieces for $10+ depending on the piece, and have made well over $100 from it! You can also sell your pieces on Poshmark, Ebay, Instagram, some local consignment stores, or even take them to your closest H&M and receive a coupon code to shop in the store!
4. After I have sorted out your clothes and decided which ones I want to keep and give away, I like to make a list of staple pieces in my wardrobe that I am lacking, and need to purchase for the spring and summer months. Right now, I am completely out of shorts, so this is something that I am writing down to stock up on for the warmer weather coming up!
5. It’s time to shop! Shopping is always so fun, but shopping for the beginning of a new season is always my favorite. Browse your favorite stores to see what they are promoting for the upcoming season, and shop shop shop!
Here are a couple coupon codes for you to use while you spring shop at these adorable boutiques:
