AHH! It’s finally here! I am heading out to NYC tomorrow and am soo excited if you cannot tell! I have been looking forward to this trip for a long time, and seriously am shocked that it is here already. I wanted to throw together a quick guide to what I found helpful when packing, so that y’all may find a few new helpful tips and tricks that you might have not thought about!

Tip #1: ROLL YOUR CLOTHES: I may be the last one to know about this trick, but it really helped me when packing! I normally like to fold all of my pieces nice and neat, but never had enough space to fit everything. My mom was actually the one that informed me of the rolling technique, which actually helps your clothes not get super wrinkled. I was able to fit so much more that I otherwise would not have been able to pack, and I feel like I could even fit a few more extra pieces in there! So if you find yourself with little to no space after a few tops and jeans, try rolling them!

Tip #2: SHOES ON BOTTOM: As you can see from this pictures above, I have a few chunky shoes that I needed to somehow pack on top or in between my clothes. After realizing that they were not going to easily squeeze or lay on top, I decided to start packing with them on the bottom. Sort of a foundation for the rest of my pieces. I feel that this was very helpful when layering my clothes because I was not trying to force delicate tops in between 4″ espadrilles! You know what I mean? Haha! I also am not worried about them rubbing up against my tops and leaving dirt stains! Very helpful!

Tip #3: INVEST IN MAKEUP BAGS: If you have been following me for a while, you know that I have been LOVING the Ellis James Design travel bags. They are my go-to for traveling and hold everything I need. Ellis James Design recently came out with the makeup brush bag that is exclusively for holding your makeup brushes! (See this post for a full review I did on the quilted black cosmetic bag). This awesome brush bag has so many different compartments, and makes it so much easier to carry your brushes separate from your makeup for an ideal sanitary option. Because I love sharing with y’all lots of ways to save $$, Ellis James has given me a link to share with y’all for 50% off of your purchase! Yay! CLICK THIS LINK TO RECEIVE 50% OFF!

Tip #4: INVEST IN GOOD LUGGAGE: So when I decided to start looking for luggage, all I knew what that I wanted something with four wheels. I ended up finding this suitcase from Calpak, which was so stinking cute and had four wheels! After purchasing this suitcase and getting it home, I realized that it has so much more to offer than I really knew I needed (I didn’t even use all of the pockets). I was also excited to see that there are TONS of pockets, zipper compartments, and ample amounts of space for your clothes, etc.. Not only that, but it comes with a lock system for security purposes which is a plus! If you are looking for a new suitcase, I highly recommend this one. Oh, and it is super lightweight!

Alright! I am ready to go! Stay tuned on my Instagram this week to see lots of pictures and videos, and I will be posting ALL about my trip very soon!

Lots of Love, Kaitlyn
